Most poems published by a farmer

2024-01-04

Guo Changsong was born in 1967 in Yuxiaguan Town, Pingshun County, Shanxi Province. He grew up in the mountains and read books while herding cattle in his childhood. After graduating from primary school, he entered Xingcheng Middle School. Although he did not finish junior high school, he immersed himself in a variety of novels when he returned to his hometown to continue herding cattle, covering the Four Great Classical Novels, Biography of Yue Fei, Unofficial History of The Scholars, Generals of the Yang Family, Three Heroes and Five Gallants, Suitangyanyi, Liaozhaizhiyi and so on.

There is an old saying "Talent comes out of adversity". It is because of Guo Changsong's special experience in his early years that he began to explore his own poetry creation. Returning to the mountains and looking at the blue sky, green space, water and happy cows, he felt real happiness and freedom. Every day, he takes a Tang poem, a Song poem and a dictionary sitting on the bluestone or grass. He is accompanied by cattle and immersed in the sea of poetry book, gradually falling in love with the world of poetry. Ancient poetry deeply touched his heart, such as Lu You's " At sunset I hear the sad sound of the horn ", Li Qingzhao's " Red lotus root incense residual jade, autumn ", Li Yu's " When will there be no more an autumn moon and spring time flowers ", Su Shi's " The great river flows eastward, with waves washing away "as well as Cao Mengde, Bai Juyi, Du Fu, Li Bai and other people's verses.

Gradually, he began to try to write poems, recording everything he saw in his eyes, thought in his heart, and felt on the grass and slate. Later, he found that he could earn money by writing newsletters, so he wrote about the countryside, farm work and peasant life and then became a special correspondent for newspapers and radio stations everywhere, which allowed him to earn some money each year to make ends meet.

Although it was somewhat tedious, he continued to write poems and filled twenty notes. Unfortunately, some were sold as scrap paper and others were lost. He didn't collate less than a tenth of his poems until he bought a computer in 2005. In 2016, he published his first book of poetry called A Little Rain in the Forest and since then he has written more than 18,000 poems except for the lost parts.

The life of more than 50 years is full of rushing and hurrying but the only love is to write poetry. Although he has not received formal education in poetry and his writing level is average, he is full of love and talent for poetry. In the future, he hopes to continue to share in his own happiness, the progress of society and the prosperity of the country and world.
