Largest Sand Painting Themed Sports in the World
2020-10-22On April 28, 2020, a significant event took place at Bokelou Square in Boke Town, Longquanyi District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The Longquanyi District sand painting team led 70 youth from the Yi district in creating an impressive ground sand painting that spanned a total area of 698.671 square meters and utilized 2 tons of sand over the course of three hours. This remarkable artwork earned recognition as the largest sand painting themed sports in the world, setting a Forbes World Record.
The planner of this initiative is a post-80s young artists. He noted that preparations for this activity took nearly a month and centered around the theme of Youth Shine · Rong You Proud. Coinciding with Youth Day, participants included league cadres and young volunteers along with Rong Piao representatives from various industries within Longquanyi District who contributed to the creation of this extraordinary sand painting."
This sand painting incorporates the primary colors of the logo for the 31st World University Games such as red, blue, yellow, and green which will take place in Chengdu. It embodies the dreams and passions of Longquan's youth. By this form of sand painting to challenge the world record, we pay tribute to both Chengdu and Longquan. We aspire for more young individuals to emulate Rong Piao by coming to Longquanyi to pursue and realize their aspirations.
After approximately three hours of creation, four running teenagers gradually emerged on the ground alongside Chengdu’s iconic called Anshun Bridge, symbols of peach blossoms from Longquanyi district, and cars as key elements—all encapsulated under the slogan called A Better Chengdu, A Better You. The Sichuan First Surveying and Mapping Engineering Institute along with the Longquan Notary Office conducted measurements and notarized the results of this sand painting on-site. Verified by Forbes World Records, this artwork successfully established a new world record for the largest sand painting themed Sports in the World.
Over 70 participants from various industries collaborated to create sand paintings. The maker of the sand painting said, “participating in this activity has profoundly impacted me. As a member of the anti-epidemic force, we can unite our efforts to build a tower of resilience and ultimately overcome the epidemic, paving the way for a brighter future for our homeland just like this sand painting.”
It is noteworthy that the sand painting team produced an impressive ground sand painting approximately 400 square meters to commemorate the 70th anniversary of New China during National Day last year.
